Privacy Policy - ContextHUD

Effective Date: May 21, 2026

ContextHUD ("we," "our," or "us") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how our Google Chrome extension handles user data. Our core philosophy is simple: Your Claude conversation content and session data stays on your machine and is not transmitted to ContextHUD-owned servers. The one optional exception -- the Pro Handoff feature -- is described in Section 2 and only ever runs if you choose to turn it on.

1. Single Purpose & Stated Functionality

ContextHUD functions as a local session visibility and workflow management layer for serious AI users. It provides real-time token/context calculation, turn counting, and session status metrics within your active browser tabs on supported AI platforms (such as Claude.ai).

2. Data Collection and Processing (Local-First Policy)

ContextHUD operates under a strict local-first architecture:

3. Third-Party Data Sharing and Transfers

Other than the optional, user-initiated Pro Handoff feature described in Section 2 -- which sends session content directly from your browser to Anthropic only if you supply your own Anthropic API key and choose to run it -- ContextHUD does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share your Claude.ai conversation content, prompts, responses, or session history. Payment processing is handled by Stripe under their own privacy policy and terms. Email or waitlist forms, if used, are handled by a third-party email provider and are entirely separate from the extension's local processing of session data. We do not sell personal data.

4. External Payments & Authentication

Subscription and lifetime access purchases for ContextHUD Pro are handled entirely externally through our secure merchant partner (Stripe). No payment details, billing information, or financial credentials ever pass through or are stored by the extension software itself.

5. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Compliance

ContextHUD strictly adheres to the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the Limited Use restrictions. Our use of information accessed through Chrome APIs and supported AI platform pages is limited strictly to providing the user-facing ContextHUD session visibility and workflow features described in our Chrome Web Store listing and in the extension interface. The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Permissions

ContextHUD requests only the permissions required for its stated features: activeTab and scripting to read session state from Claude.ai; storage to save user preferences and session exports locally; downloads to enable user-initiated session exports; and alarms for session timing indicators. No permissions are requested for purposes unrelated to session visibility and workflow management.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect platform additions or technical adjustments. Any modifications will be updated directly on this page and noted in our public changelog.
