Privacy Policy - ContextHUD
Effective Date: May 21, 2026
ContextHUD ("we," "our," or "us") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how our Google Chrome extension handles user data. Our core philosophy is simple: your data belongs to you, stays on your machine, and never touches our servers.
1. Single Purpose & Stated Functionality
ContextHUD functions as a local session visibility and workflow management layer for serious AI users. It provides real-time token/context calculation, turn counting, and session status metrics within your active browser tabs on supported AI platforms (such as Claude.ai).
2. Data Collection and Processing (Local-First Policy)
ContextHUD operates under a strict local-first architecture:
- No Remote Data Transmission: We do not run remote data collection servers or central databases. ContextHUD does not transmit, upload, or sync your chat sessions, text inputs, prompts, or history to any external servers.
- DOM Parsing: The extension requires permission to read active tab contents exclusively on designated AI platform domains (e.g.,
https://*.claude.ai/*). This permission is used solely to parse text lengths locally in your browser to calculate real-time token limits and warning states. - Local Storage: Any configuration settings, local turn counters, or premium session exports (Pro Tier features) are written directly to and read exclusively from your browser's secure local storage (
chrome.storage.local).
3. Third-Party Data Sharing and Transfers
Because we do not collect or store your data, it is impossible for us to share, rent, or sell it.
- We do not transfer user data to third parties under any circumstances, except when legally compelled to do so.
- We absolutely prohibit the use of any processed technical data for personalized advertising, data broker monetization, or profiling.
- No human operators or developers affiliated with ContextHUD will ever read your conversation history or extension interactions.
4. External Payments & Authentication
Subscription and lifetime access purchases for ContextHUD Pro are handled entirely externally through our secure merchant partner (Stripe). No payment details, billing information, or financial credentials ever pass through or are stored by the extension software itself.
5. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Compliance
ContextHUD strictly adheres to the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the Limited Use restrictions. Our use of information received from Google Chrome APIs will always be limited strictly to providing and improving the user-facing functionality of the extension.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect platform additions or technical adjustments. Any modifications will be updated directly on this page and noted in our public changelog.
